Company founder Gerhard Priel is a “Sound Doctor and Acoustic Magician” and not only is he the inventor of the modern Cajon based on the classic Peruvian model, he also has the know-how to continually invent and further develop new instruments for world percussion. He has the passion and the feeling for the decisive sound. Exactly the sound that touches people emotionally and makes up the SCHLAGWERK SOUND EXPERIENCE. Together with his development team, he is constantly creating new extraordinary cajons and other innovative percussion instruments such as the La Ola Drum or the SamJam Guitar Snare.

Superior Sound - Every Schlagwerk instrument is crafted to the highest standard to ensure the purest tone possible and best quality sound is achieved. Sound is central to everything that they do and every instrument is played and tuned before it leaves the factory by their demanding quality control department.

Superior Build Quality - As proud members of the Association of German Manufacturers Schlagwerk stands for innovation, perfection and tradition and has the official German Manufactory Seal. Everything is ‘Made in Germany' to the highest level of quality using only the best materials and the most modern production technology with real craftsmanship. 

Sustainability – Schlagwerk products are all manufactured using European woods of the highest quality like Birch, Alder and Beech and are only sourced from suppliers that have been trusted for many years. If exotic hardwoods cannot be replaced then only free-trade woods from sustainable forestry are used.

Environmental - Schlagwerk are extremely concerned with the environment and make huge steps to reduce any negative impact their manufacturing may have. They pay great attention to the chemical components used like VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) that are on the EU REACH list.

Waste Reduction - At every stage of manufacturing waste is reduced to a minimum and special attention is paid to re-cycling and the type and amount of packaging used for their products.
